life in pictures: the Persian new year!

Hey, Loves!
In my last post I mentioned that my parents were visiting.  What I didn't mention was that this week is also the Persian new year!  The Persian new year (called "Norouz") takes place on the turn of the Spring Equinox and usually falls on March 20th or 21st.  It's a wonderful 13 day celebration filled with family, food, dancing, and lots of eating!
Every year we go to a Norouz party in the area and celebrate.  This year our celebration was taken to a new level since my parents were here.  Party people in the house--I'm telling you! ;)
So, to everyone celebrating Norouz, happy new year!
And to everyone else, happy Spring!

life in pictures: our ski trip!

Our much-anticipated ski trip was this weekend and we enjoyed every last (BITTER cold) second. I took my iPhone on the slopes with me so I could snap some pix and Instagram them! (@hellogorginsta)
We also got to catch up with some friends over delicious dinner and drinks.  We ate too much, drank just enough, aaaaaaand I was asleep by 11:00 pm.  I actually fell asleep amidst a conversation back at our lodge.  As in, I was carrying on, apparently fell asleep, and woke up to find our friends gone for the night.  Oops!
Hey--skiing takes it out of you! (And clearly I'm an old lady when it comes to my bed time.)

life in pictures: baby, it's really cold outside.

This week was cold cold COLD!  I'm talking painfully so.  It snowed pretty much every day and made us re-hibernate because of the slippery road conditions.
The downside?  I didn't go grocery shopping and we were left scrounging for food all week.
The upside?  We had lots of canned soups and bread.  And who doesn't like grilled cheese sandwiches?!
Thankfully, by the end of the weekend the snow had let up and the hubs and I had a nice date night out.

Stay warm!

life in pictures: the winter hibernation.

Hey there, Lovelies!
How was your weekend?  Is it still ongoing because you have MLK day off tomorrow or do you have to pound the pavement in the A.M.?

I'm one of the lucky ones that gets to sleep in tomorrow and have the day off.  (And do all of the chores that I promised myself I'd do on Saturday and Sunday.  Oops.)
My only excuse is that I spent my weekend doing this--
p.s.  I know everyone gushes over their pets.  But, seriously, how adorbs are my cats here?!

Michigan weather has been torturously cold and staying in has felt like the thing to do. So, it's given me the perfect excuse to hang with the hubs and the kitties, eat pizza, read books, and paint my nails.  Sort of like Winter hibernation-- human edition.  Which I imagine to be a little like glamping.  But, without the glam and without the camp.  So... not like glamping at all??

In other news, not to be outdone by 98% of Americans, we too are getting on the work-out bandwagon and signing up at a new gym.  The gym that I checked out seems to offer good classes and I would love to get back in the groove of working out.  Believe it or not--there was once a time when I frequented the gym and not just the refrigerator!

Here's to sticking to it!
